For a lot of people Google is already more accurate so why waste time and effort using Bing when for lots of people it rarely returns useful results? Don't get me wrong, I like Microsoft services, but for me Bing sucks. Search operators are weak too. Outside of the US Bing struggles to compete with Google. Oh really? I've been using Bing by default since Windows 8. The main difference I find is the image search. I find Google to be a bit better and a while back when they copied the UI from Bing that meant it wasn't as bad cause the UI in Googles image search use to be crap.

Our did you mean the other guy Bing is getting better and better. I rarely use google for search. Only thing I use is my Gmail that I got away back when there was invitation only. This is a chrome extension. Cortana is built on Bing. Reread the article. Maybe this article should have been delayed until extension support arrived in Edge so that people didn't have to install an entire other browser they may or may not want just to get search redirection for Cortana.
This is not endorsing the installation of Chrome, it's just a guide for people who already use Chrome. And you say: Download an entire other browser like it was something really heavy and hard. And it doesn't make sense to wait for Edge to have extensions since at this point, in this regard, Chrome is better and, like I said, it's for Chrome users. Now, when Edge gets extension support and someone develops an extension for this purpose, then they'll probably write another article about it.
Perhaps you should re-read what I actually said instead of drawing assumptions. At no point did I say the article "endorsed" the installation of chrome, it simply has it as a requirement for this functionality. The article title and byline both suggest getting Cortana to search using Google.
It mentions nothing about Chrome until the fourth paragraph, and the first step in the guide is installing it. I never suggested this was hard, it's just a very nuclear-option way of getting this functionality. For what it's worth, I was not in any way bemoaning anyones browser choice. I use Chrome, and have done since before the "1. I just understand unlike yourself it seems that not everyone uses - or wants to use - Chrome as their primary web browser. Internet Explorer and Firefox still have larger market share combined than Chrome does, so this is a large group of people.

No, only pimp for Alphabet. No way in hell am I getting Chrome. I know what Google uses my information for, and I don't like it. Nor do I like the information of mine that they use for this. Do you really think that Microsoft is an angel with your information? I don't really trust either companies in this regard. What's so bad about edge maybe Im out the loop but i have never used a different browser. Not sure about other people but my biggest complaints are 1. That said, I still use it as my main browser simply for the "Ask Cortana" integration and the dark theme, but I do miss IE 11 at times. If Google were to disallow this app from connecting to Chromecast, would the app developer give us back our money? Thanks, but no thanks. Would only use Google for some obscure searches. Everyone else's platform before their own. Good if you lived outside the US where Bing isn't as robust. Instead of using Chrome, use Chromium or SRWare Iron if you really value your privacy, both are based off the Open Source branch of Chrome, the latter is built for Germany and it's strict privacy safeguards.
I think Microsoft should sue for trademark infringement. Chrometana sounds too much like Cortana with much of the same functionality. Workaround meaning hacks.
